My WIPs Are Kicking My Butt

Happy Monday!

I am sure you are all wondering, but my WIP is coming along nicely! I am still editing my 2018 novel while writing my novel for 2019. How many words, you ask me, crossing your arms and demanding an explanation for why I’ve not been posting as regularly.

Over 16,000 words so far, which isn’t too bad since we are only in March!  Thank you, thank you. I can hear your applause and I’m flattered.

It’s definitely a hard job balancing the work it takes to continue progress on both WIPs, plus the fact that, whenever I see a submission call, I get an insatiable desire to write a short story to submit.

It’s a strange place to be in, that’s for sure. On the one hand, I know I am making a lot of progress. I am making steady progress on polishing my 2018 draft. At the same time, I am steadily adding to my 2019 WIP.

But it’s hard to feel like I am making any real obvious milestones. I think this may be because I am so used to writing short stories, which allow for a faster turnaround time when it comes to writing, editing, and submitting. Instant gratification feels so much more real than the steady investment into these novels. So, I have to remind myself that I am working hard. I am making progress, even if it’s nothing I can immediately share with you all, my supporters.

Also, I am sure you are wondering why I don’t come out and just refer to my WIPS by title. I’ll admit to being slightly superstitious. I feel like sharing my WIPs’ titles before they are finishing is equivalent to jinxing them! Thanks for being so supportive, everyone! I appreciate every last bit of love I get from this community! Talk soon!
